Experimental Camera

Prerequisite: Basic Digital Photography or Black and White Photography 1. 42 classroom hours

PHT 261 A : Tues

In this class students have the opportunity to explore experimental techniques and shoot with a variety of cameras and formats. Students will create experimental shots in-camera, such as multiple exposure shots, extended frames, and long exposures with 35mm, medium format, and plastic cameras. Students will also build and use their own pinhole cameras. Class time will be split between lectures, practical shooting methods, class shoots, and lab time. This class will primarily use analog shooting techniques but post-production will be done both in the darkroom and the digital lab. Students will be graded on shooting assignments and a final portfolio of experimental prints. Cameras are available for student use.

In addition to tuition, a $70 course fee will be charged.
