Introduction to Writing for Television
Prerequisite: Introduction to Screenwriting. 42 classroom hours.
So you want to be a TV writer. We’ll help you develop the premise of an episode, create an outline and a beat sheet (complete with act breaks/commercial breaks), A stories and B stories, consistent characters and dialogue, and work on serial vs procedural episode progression. At the end of the course, you’ll have a full episode of a half-hour comedy or half an episode of an hourlong drama (20-30 pages). Considerable outside work is necessary.
